California Employers: Prepare Your Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (Deadline In T-Minus 3 Months)
- Legislation Overview: California pioneers workplace violence prevention standards, mandating comprehensive plans, employee training, and incident logging by July 1, 2024.
- Detailed Plan Requirements: The plan must be written, accessible, and reviewed annually, including procedures for involvement, response, training, and post-incident actions.
- Annual Training and Record-Keeping: Employees must receive initial and annual training, with records retained for at least one year. Workplace violence incidents must be documented in a violent incident log.
- Coverage and Customization: Most private sector employers are covered, with exceptions. Cal-OSHA provides a template plan, but customization is necessary for individual workplaces. Employers should plan accordingly and ensure compliance by July 1, 2024.
