Kirkland construction firm Osprey Group LLC faces $170,000 in fines for multiple trenching safety violations during a Kent project. Washington State’s Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) cited the company for neglecting trench safety, despite warnings, prompting a work stoppage. L&I issued six willful serious safety violations, noting the firm’s disregard for worker safety. Furthermore, Osprey Group was found to be unregistered as a construction contractor, a violation of state law. Trenching dangers are on the rise in the construction sector, with 39 fatalities in 2022, double the previous year’s count.
