Annual fall protection inspection requirements
- Fall protection equipment must be inspected annually to ensure it functions properly, following OSHA guidelines.
- Regular inspections by a competent person are required to detect defects such as tears, mold, and corrosion in harnesses, lifelines, lanyards, and self-retracting devices.
- Daily pre-use inspections are necessary to identify issues early, and all inspections must be documented to track equipment condition over time.
- Employers must maintain rescue plans, regularly inspect rescue equipment, and ensure all personnel are trained on emergency procedures, while maintaining compliance with OSHA regulations and ongoing safety education.
