Back to Basics: Are You Ready for Construction Fall Hazards?
Effective July 1, 2024, California’s new workplace violence prevention safety law requires nearly all employers to adopt a Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP), train employees on workplace violence, and log safety incidents.
Senate Bill 553, codified in California Labor Code section 6401.9, broadly applies to most employers with exceptions for remote employees, small non-public workplaces, certain healthcare facilities, and law enforcement.
Employers must maintain a WVPP at all facilities, customized to specific hazards, involve employees in its development, record violent incidents, review plans annually, and provide effective training.
The WVPP must be accessible to employees, and employers cannot retaliate against employees seeking emergency assistance during violent incidents.
