California’s Indoor Heat Illness Prevention Standard: Cal/OSHA Standards Board Publishes New Modifications
- Cal/OSHA’s Standards Board proposed changes to the draft indoor heat illness prevention standard on November 9, 2023.
- Influenced by feedback from the August 2023 15-day comment period, these modifications face a second 15-day comment period until November 28, 2023.
- Proposed adjustments include exceptions for specific indoor heat exposure scenarios, removal of a provision aligning certain indoor spaces with the outdoor heat illness standard, and the elimination of a requirement for compliance solely with the indoor standard for employees transitioning between indoor and outdoor work.
- The Standards Board is expected to vote on the regulation in Q1 2024, aiming for implementation by summer 2024.
