Washington L&I Updates Fall Protection Standards to Align with Federal Regulations
The Washington Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) is expediting a rulemaking process to update fall protection standards.
The update targets alignment with federal OSHA requirements, focusing on leading edge work, safety monitor system criteria, and roofing activities on low-pitched roofs.
Changes involve clarifications in fall restraint system definitions, adjustments in construction work exemptions, and revisions to warning line systems and safety monitor systems requirements.
The goal is to improve worker safety, ensure compliance with federal standards, and address specific conditions for safety monitoring systems during low-pitched roof roofing work. Stakeholders and the public can submit objections or feedback until April 8, 2024, to Carmyn Shute, Administrative Regulations Analyst at DOSH, via email at [email protected].
